The myth the data refutes:

the age of the car has almost no effect — the difference between a new car and one 20+ years old is only ~7%. The engine power and the driver's profile are decisive. Company cars pay ~6% more than individuals (145,51 € versus 136,80 €).

The young driver: tariffs diverge by up to double

According to the official tariffs, the surcharge for drivers under 25 varies from ~20% to over 100% for one and the same car. In practice young drivers pay a median of 177,68 € (+29%), because they choose the companies with lenient terms. For no other profile does comparison bring so much.

⚡ MTPL for an electric car

One of the least known advantages of electric cars:

  • With some insurers an EV is rated as the smallest class — with a fixed premium regardless of the engine power.
  • With others an explicit discount of ~10% applies for electric or hybrid propulsion.
  • For company electric cars, the lowest prices in entire tariffs can be found.

How to pay less (legally)

  • A single payment: saves 1–2% compared with installments.
  • A valid Casco policy with the same insurer: −5–10% with some of the companies.
  • Renewal on time and without claims: up to −15% with certain companies.
  • Attention: malus scales are already in force — an at-fault accident over 500 € can make the next policy 25%+ more expensive, even before bonus-malus (2027).

METHODOLOGY

  • Two independent sources: 17 025 online quotes (February–August 2026) and 4 904 real policies concluded through Boleron during 2026.
  • We use medians, not averages: the median shows what the typical driver pays and is not distorted by extreme offers.
  • Prices include tax and the contributions to the Guarantee Fund and the Security Fund, for a single payment.
  • The observed differences by profile are smaller than the tariff surcharges, because customers self-select towards the companies with the best terms for them.
  • We publish transactional data, not tariff tables: tariffs change several times a year.
