Do we need mountain insurance?

Mountain rescue is paid for in Bulgaria. The reason for this is that the Mountain Rescue Service is not supported by the budget, but is financed by the victims and by Bulgarian Red Cross. The insurance taken out with some ski passes is very limited to the first aid provided on the ski slope and the working hours of the lifts, which is why victims often have to pay extra.

The Insurance Does Not Cover

Physical injury, illness, or consequences of events that occurred outside the insurance period;

Diseases and treatments of any nature (including AIDS), except for cases of sudden illness;

Mental illnesses or states of insanity;

Use of alcohol, opiates, and their derivatives;

“Death resulting from an accident” for incapacitated persons and persons under 14 years of age;

Damages from fights (except in cases of self-defense), suicide, crimes, alcohol or drug use;

Professional practice of sports, extreme sports, aerial sports, and participation in competitions, unless agreed otherwise with an insurance policy addendum;

Intentional actions by the Insured or a beneficiary entitled to compensation;

Swimming in unsupervised waters or outside the hours of lifeguard service, or when a prohibition flag is raised.
