Is Motor Third Party Liability coverage the same with all insurers?
Motor Third Party Liability insurance is a compulsory insurance whose main coverage and liability limits are set by law. That is why the main scope of the insurance does not depend on which insurance company you have chosen.
Differences between insurers can exist in the price of the policy, the method and terms of payment, the service and the additional services. The price is determined individually by each insurer according to its own tariff and the data for the specific vehicle and owner.
Motor Third Party Liability insurance is concluded for a period of one year and is valid in the territory of the member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area and the countries that have signed the Green Card Multilateral Agreement (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, plus Andorra, Serbia and Switzerland).
A Green Card certificate is mandatory when travelling to Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Morocco, North Macedonia, Russia, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine.
Important for Kosovo: Kosovo is not a member of the Green Card system. Drivers of Bulgarian-registered vehicles must purchase local Motor Third Party Liability insurance at the border when entering.

Exclusions expressly listed in the Bulgarian Insurance Code include:
Damage to property owned by a member of the insured person's family;
Damages suffered by the at-fault driver or their vehicle;
Damage to property carried in the at-fault driver's vehicle.
The exact assessment depends on the individual case and the applicable law. See the current Insurance Code on the Financial Supervision Commission website.
An injured third party does not automatically lose the right to compensation when the at-fault driver used alcohol or drugs. After paying compensation, the insurer may recover the amount from the at-fault driver on grounds provided by law, including:
The at-fault driver was over the legal alcohol limit or under the influence of drugs, refused a test or culpably avoided one;
The at-fault driver did not hold the required driving licence;
The at-fault driver left the scene before the authorities arrived when their attendance was legally required.
